Description
JA Solar JAM54D40-465/LB is a high-efficiency monocrystalline bifacial photovoltaic module from the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series with a power output of 465 W. The panel is built on n-type cells and features a Double Glass design with 1.6 mm glass on both the front and rear sides. The module efficiency is 23.3%.
Advantages of the Bifacial Design
The module can generate electricity not only with its front side but also with its rear side, using light reflected from the surface beneath the panel. The actual generation gain depends on the surface albedo, the height and mounting method, the tilt angle, the row spacing, and shading.
That is why I would not state fixed “+5–25%” figures or specific +10%, +18%, +25% values for different surfaces — the official datasheet does not guarantee these numbers for a real solar power plant.
Technological Features
- n-type technology. The module uses monocrystalline n-type cells designed for high efficiency and low degradation.
- Double Glass. The front and rear glass, 1.6 mm + 1.6 mm thick, protect the photovoltaic cells and provide the module’s bifacial design.
- High efficiency — 23.3%. A power output of 465 W with dimensions of 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm allows you to use the available mounting area efficiently.
- Pmax temperature coefficient −0.290%/°C. This means a relatively small drop in module power as the temperature rises.
- Protection rating IP68. The junction box has three bypass diodes.
- Maximum system voltage — 1500 V DC.
Electrical Characteristics
For the JAM54D40-465/LB at STC:
- rated power — 465 W;
- open-circuit voltage (Voc) — 40.20 V;
- voltage at maximum power point (Vmp) — 33.50 V;
- short-circuit current (Isc) — 14.65 A;
- current at maximum power point (Imp) — 13.88 A;
- efficiency — 23.3%;
- power tolerance — 0…+3%.
Which Solar Power Plants It Suits
The JA Solar JAM54D40-465/LB can be used in residential, commercial, and industrial solar power plants. The bifacial design is especially worthwhile where the rear side of the panel has access to reflected light.
When designing a solar power plant, you must take into account the module’s Voc, Isc, Vmp, and Imp and the permissible MPPT parameters of the selected inverter.
Warranty and Degradation
For n-type bifacial double-glass modules, JA Solar states a 30-year linear power warranty: no more than 1% degradation in the first year and no more than 0.4% per year thereafter.
