A ballast system is a method of mounting solar panels in which the structure is held in place by its own weight (ballast) rather than being attached to the roof. Ballast prevents damage to the roof itself and ensures that the panels do not tip over, even in strong winds.
The structure is designed as follows: ballast is added to the metal frame, which is placed directly on the roof of the building. Solar panels are then mounted onto the metal structure, allowing their tilt angle to be easily adjusted. Installation of the ballast system is quick and does not require many tools.
