Description
Ballast system is a method of mounting solar panels in which the structure is held in place by weight (ballast) rather than being fastened to the roof. Ballast avoids damage to the roof itself and also keeps the panels from tipping over even in strong wind.
The structure works as follows: ballast is added to a metal frame, which is placed directly on the roof of the building. The solar panels are then mounted on the metal structure, which makes it easy to change their tilt angle. Installing a ballast system is quick and does not require many tools.
